David Bottemiller

David Bottemiller ’62 died April 24, 2014.

Born in Detroit, Ore., Feb. 6, 1940, to Henry and Edna Bottemiller, David spent his 74 years living a life full of adventure. He attended Milwaukie High School, where he competed in track and football and was an active member of his youth group at Milwaukie Lutheran. David graduated from Pacific Lutheran University (class of 1962), where he played football and still holds a top-10 record for total receptions. He later helped found the Jesters Rugby Club in Portland, coached track, taught high-school English and sold real estate. He loved sports and music, had the most wonderful sense of humor and was a loving father. A talented musician and composer, he will be forever remembered with a guitar on his lap. David passed away peacefully April 24, 2014, from dementia, outside Seattle, where he lived for the last 30 years of his life. His daughters were by his side. He is survived by his daughters, Helena Bottemiller Evich (Jordan), Haley Bottemiller and Inga McDevitt (Tom); their two kids, Brady and Eric; ex-wife, Lisa Crunick; and sister, Carol Geldaker (Chuck). He will be greatly missed. A private service was held on Alki Beach in West Seattle.
