Forsyth Named West Region Track Athlete of the Year

TACOMA, Wash. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its Regional Award winners on Tuesday with Pacific Lutheran University's Bailey Forsyth earning West Region Track Athlete of the Year.

The award is the latest in a laundry list of accolades for the senior from Langley, Washington. Forsyth won both the 100-meters and 200-meters at the 2021 Northwest Conference Championships while finishing runner-up as a member of the Lutes' 4x100-meter relay team. Forsyth's performance landed her NWC Track Athlete of the Year honors. Forsyth additionally earned All-West Region in both the 100 and 200 and was named the PLU Athletic Department Female Athlete of the Year.

Forsyth is heading to the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships with the top times in both the 100 and 200. Her time of 11.73 set a PLU school record and an NWC meet record as did her time of 23.86 in the 200.

Forsyth opens the NCAA Championships on Thursday, running the 200-meter preliminaries at 4:55 p.m. (Eastern Time) before competing in the 100-meter preliminaries at 3:30 p.m. (Eastern). Finals for both events will be conducted on Saturday.
