Barbara (Thompson) Dittrich

Barbara (Thompson) Dittrich retired in October 2019, concluding a 49-year career in public education. Barbara worked 34 years as a history teacher in the North Thurston Public Schools, one year for the Office of Program Research in the Washington Legislature as an assistant to the House Education Committee, and 10 years for the state Superintendent of Public Instruction. Barbara and her husband Richard Dittrich ’72 live in Olympia. She looks forward to spending time with family and friends as well as volunteering in the community.
