Advice
What’s one thing every prospective PLU student should know?

The strong friendly community feeling that permeates all aspects of student life at PLU. The faculty, staff, and students are so nice and friendly that is easy to feel welcome. All the professors want to know you by your name and sincerely care about your success at PLU and your life after college. The people at PLU are very supportive of all students.

What do you like about living in the Northwest?

The endless opportunities for fun adventures. People can ski, kayak, and sail all year long in the Northwest. Washington has volcanoes, glaciers, beaches, deserts, rain forests, and lots of wildlife. The mild climate of the Puget Sound is very comfortable and there are no bugs in Tacoma. The four mountain ranges have excellent hiking, skiing, trekking and photographic value. I love all of the different species of trees and greenery in western Washington.

How is PLU different from other universities?

The emphasis on global education is huge aspect of PLU that distinguishes it from other universities. Almost half of the student body studies away during their college years, a huge benefit of the PLU experience. Students graduate from PLU as global citizens and are prepared for the international challenges of the 21st century. Also the fact that PLU is a national leader in campus sustainability highlights how the university is innovative, energy efficient, and truly cares about the Earth's future.

Name one way that PLU has changed your life.

PLU has helped me develop my passion for education and serving others. I love learning, and sharing that passion with other people is very fulfilling. As a former high school teacher and as a current Admission Counselor I am able to encourage people to study what they are passionate about and go after their academic, professional, and personal dreams. College is a life changing experience and attending PLU will be a positive experience you will enjoy.
