The Master of Science in Marketing Analytics (MSMA) at PLU offers flexibility so students can fit their education into their already busy lives while opening the doors to the fastest growing profession in the global digital economy. The MSMA is offered as a fully online program or a hybrid program which includes some on campus classes. Data-driven decision-making and agility in marketing are vital to an organization’s sustained growth and success. Marketing Analytics is the specialized field which addresses these analytical marketing strategy and decision needs of organizations. The MSMA program prepares you for career advancement while working full-time.
The MSMA fills a critical industry gap that other business analytics programs miss. Many analytics programs only teach data analysis, and ignore research. The PLU MSMA helps you understand not only what the data is saying, but to understand the research behind it. Further, the program teaches research and data collection, allowing graduates to blend analytics with active research. Why was this included? Because industry said this was an important gap, and those in executive positions need to have a full understanding of both analytics and research. It is one reason PLU MSMA graduates have had such great positions in companies that inspire them.
The program builds expertise by incorporating a strong experiential learning component. Client projects are like an internship embedded in a course. Further, through a MSMA final program project, students interact and consult with organizations from the for-profit and non-profit sectors as part of their experiential learning. Located near Seattle, home to the some of the most famous and largest firms of the digital age (Amazon, Facebook, Google, Costco, REI, etc.), the school of business offers its students numerous opportunities to be engaged in the profession, and interact with the leading lights of industry and community.
The PLU MSMA program is offered fully online or in a hybrid format. The program is accredited by AACSB, the gold standard for business school accreditation. Students can complete the required 36-credits and earn the MSMA degree in as short as nine-months. Students may also choose a more flexible pace to complete the program over twenty-one months.
The online program offers synchronous and live online lectures with active class interaction during non-working hours. Additional asynchronous class materials and activities will be arranged, flexible for students with full-time jobs, children or other responsibilities. Students attend classes online at home or anywhere, but will also have personal, individualized interaction and support from faculty and staff, such as individual appointments and video calls, online messaging and social media groups with fellow students. Students in the hybrid track will participate in the same synchronous and live online lectures as the fully online students in addition to taking up to three classes on the PLU campus in a traditional classroom setting.
The PLU MSMA has a unique focus on marketing analytics. The program’s rigorous and relevant curriculum prepares graduates to be highly skilled marketing analytics professionals. You will gain a solid foundation in marketing strategies, consumer behavior and market analysis, and acquire state-of-the-art skills and tools for analysis, synthesis, interpretation and decision-making.

Students will also enjoy the renowned PLU experience of individual attention to student learning, and close interaction and mentoring with faculty and other MSMA student peers.
Students will continue to enjoy the option to meet faculty and peers face-to-face and for consultation and informal meetings throughout the program. Students will also have the option to participate in professional activities and networking events in the greater Seattle-Tacoma area.

Those working in industry who want the skill sets to advanced and executive positions can take online coursework with some evening mentoring sessions while remaining employed.
Marketing isn’t required before entering the program (we’ll teach you!). In fact, anyone with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution can enroll in this program.
