Faculty Governance

Membership: Six members elected from the faculty at large for three-year overlapping terms.

Advisory Membership: Provost, registrar, dean of admission, director of advising, director of financial aid, vice president for student life, and chair of the Faculty Campus Life Committee, one student, or designees.

General Purpose: To study problems, recommend policy, and, in general, represent the faculty in matters dealing with admission, retention, student academic status, and policy recommendation and formation related to enrollment.

Specific Duties:

1. To provide two representatives to the Strategic Enrollment Management Advisory Committee.
2. To review and recommend procedures for the admission of undergraduate students.
3. To act on applications at the request of the dean of admissions, and by consent of the committee.
4. To recommend policy regarding standards of student academic performance.
5. To recommend policy regarding the retention of students.
6. To act on the status of academic probationary students at the request of the registrar or provost and by consent of the committee.
7. To act on applications for readmission when scholarship is a factor involved at the request of the registrar or provost and by consent of the committee.
8. To provide a representative to the University Diversity Committee.
9. To make a written report to the faculty at least once a year. The chair of the committee shall file a record of the committee’s activities in duplicate reports--one with the faculty secretary and one with the president of the university at the close of the school year.
