Scandinavian Cultural Center

The Scandinavian Cultural Center is a place for all ages to discover and enjoy the heritage, history, and culture of Scandinavia.

The Viking Ship Prow

small shipIn the spring of 1992, the long-awaited Viking ship  prow made its way from Anacortes, Washington, home of its designer and builder, Paul Schweiss. It is 25 feet tall and weighs 2,200 lbs. The prow is displayed in front of the Scandinavian Cultural Center as a reminder of the university's Nordic roots.

The Center

The center is located at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, as a part of the University's connection to its Nordic roots.

We are open to the public three days a week. Our volunteers will welcome you and give you a guided tour of the facility. Special educational programs are offered to school groups.
