Scandinavian Cultural Center at PLU: Preserving Heritage and Building Connections Across Communities

By Britt Board
Assistant Director of Communications

“Bottom Line: We are all similar. We are all connected,”PLU News: SCC says longtime volunteer Linda Caspersen. This sentiment captures the spirit of the Scandinavian Cultural Center (SCC) at Pacific Lutheran University. Part museum, part gathering place, part living classroom, the SCC preserves and shares stories of Nordic and Nordic-American heritage.

The SCC enriches understanding of Nordic-American cultures, reflecting PLU’s Norwegian heritage. We offer engaging cultural programs for the community and students attending PLU. As a vital part of the South Puget Sound’s community, we foster connections between Nordic individuals and organizations.

Come explore the SCC! We’re open to the public on Sundays (1-4 p.m.) and Tuesdays and Wednesdays (12-3 p.m.). Tours are available by appointment for students, school groups, and community members. Contact us to schedule your visit!

Membership in the SCC is a great way to stay up to date with our events and to become involved in our programming.

Acknowledgement of the Land We Occupy

PLU is on the traditional lands of the Nisqually, Puyallup, Squaxin Island and Steilacoom peoples; we acknowledge and respect the traditional caretakers of this land.
This is the land acknowledgement you find scattered around the PLU website. The staff here at the Scandinavian Cultural Center think it is doubly important that we acknowledge this.
