The Department of Communication & Theatre hosts a number of award-winning student organizations, of which most students are involved in at least one. These organizations include Speech & Debate, Society of Professional Journalists, MediaLab, Student Media, which includes The Mooring Mast (PLU's weekly newspaper), KCCR (student radio), KCNS (student television), and an array of theatre-minded organizations including Alpha Psi Omega, Vpstart Crows, Dance Ensemble and Clay Crows Improv. Most of these organizations don't require students to have previous experience. However, all programs require a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to participate.
