Institutional Research

As part of the Office of the Provost, the Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is the comprehensive source for information about Pacific Lutheran University.  OIR provides the University community with data and information to evaluate progress regarding governing and regulating concerns, measurements of quality, allocation of resources, productivity, cognitive outcomes and accomplishment of the University's mission.

What is institutional research?

Four basic activities describe institutional research:

  1. Collecting data about the environment of the institution
  2. Collecting data about the performance of the institution
  3. Analyzing and interpreting the collected data
  4. Transforming the data analyses and data interpretations into information that can be used to support institutional planning, policy and decision making.
