About PLU

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) was founded in 1890 by a group of mostly Scandinavian immigrants. PLU is committed to the integration of liberal arts studies and professional preparation. PLU is the only university rated within the top 15 of all Western region Master’s universities every year since the first “Best College” survey published annually by U.S. News and World Report. Scholarships are available to most International students.

Location

PLU is located in the quiet suburb of Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is Washington state’s third-largest city, with more than 200,000 residents. PLU is approximately a 40 minute drive from Washington state’s largest city, Seattle and a 30 minute drive from the state capital, Olympia. The climate is relatively mild and snowfall in town is rare.

Admission criteria for International students

Overall grade of 80%-B or higher is highly recommended. (70%-C or higher will be considered).

Language requirements for Norwegian students

TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.5, or PTE 56

Not required if completing ESL at PLU

May be waived based on the country of origin
