Campus Ministry Steward
Caitlin Dawes is from Tacoma, WA. She is Sociology major with a German minor. Apart from Campus Ministry she is involved with QASU, the America Reads program, is on RHC as the Social Justice Director for Hong International Hall, tutors English at Brookdale Elementary, and tries to attend various programs and panels put on across campus.
Her dream travel destination would have to be the Atlantic Ocean! She loves sailing, and she has never been blue water sailing or even seen the Atlantic Ocean! She thinks that it would be amazing to sail that part of the world.
Caitlin went with Campus Ministry to Antigua, Guatemala, Spring Break 2013. She thought it was an amazing trip that founded a lot of friendships and opened her eyes to several opportunities not only for her, but the community of Guatemala. She knew very little of the South American culture except that they spoke Spanish. She thought that everyone was so hospitable and humble, warm welcoming and proud of what they owned even though it was not much. This amazing trip helped her formulate her privilege as an American, and she hopes to educate others about countries like Guatemala so people can learn of their beauty like she did.
