Printing tips for:

Printing in the library

The Haley Information Center on the first floor of the library has three laser printers for printing papers, notes, articles, Web pages, and more. There are several payment options are available to pay for printing, though it's easiest to pay with your Lutecard.

Here's how it works:
1) From the File menu, select Print preview to make sure your document will print out the way you want it (e.g., double sided or single sided, landscape or portrait, etc.)

2) Make any adjustments, then click Print.

3) Print as many documents as you need, they will all be saved for you to pay for and print all at once.

4) Go to one of the 3 Print Release Touch Stations, and find your ePass name on the screen. If you're using a public machine, you may be logged in as "public1", "public2", etc. Make sure you choose the right one! Touch the name on the screen.

5) A new screen appears, listing your print jobs. Touch the ones you want to print. Check marks will appear next to them. (If you've decided not to print something, just leave it alone it'll eventually disappear.)

6) The total amount due will be noted below the print job list. Touch the button that says "GoPrint" in the lower right corner of the screen.

7) Swipe your Lutecard or copicard in the card reader next to the Print Release Touch Screen. (If you've paid cash, the student assistant will do this for you.)

8) Touch the bottom right of the screen where it says "Accept this print job".

9) Copy points will be deducted from your Lutecard or copicard.

10) Your prints will come out at the printer noted on the print job. (Please note, if it's a large file, such as a PDF or PowerPoint, it may take several minutes to print. If you've been waiting a long time, come to the Help desk for assitance.)

Paying for printing

If you're a student, printing in the library costs 6 cents per page. The easiest way to pay for printing is to use your LuteCard. Full-time students receive 100 free copies ($6 value) every September 1 and every February 1; part-time students receive 50 copies ($3). When these points are used up, you can refill online by credit card, or by calling 253-535-7457. Copy points do not roll over from semester to semester, so use them while you can!

If you're not a student, printing costs 10 cents per page. We have copicards available for purchase. Buy these cards at the front desk near the main entrance on the first floor of the library. If you're printing 10 pages or less, you can pay for your printing in cash at the circulation desk. Bring the receipt from your payment to the help desk to get your prints.

Copicards

Copicards come in 3 denominations: 25 copies, 50 copies and 100 copies. Prices for the initial cards are $3.00, $4.50 and $7.50. If a patron uses up a card and turns it in to purchase another, the card costs are $1.50, $3.00 and $6.50.  We are unable to add copies to copicards or LuteCards.  We can only sell additional copicards.

If you're a student, the easiest and cheapest way to pay for printing and photocopying is to use your LuteCard.

Making & paying for photocopies in the library

You can make black and white photocopies using the copy machines on the first floor of the library. The copiers are located to the right of the main entrance as you walk in, behind the glass partition. Copying is six cents per page on the two machines that take copicards & LuteCards.  Copies are 10 cents on the one photocopier that takes coins.

Color printing & copying

If you need to print something in color, you can do so in the Digital Media Center on the second floor of the library. You can make color copies or transparencies at Multimedia Services on the first floor of the library.

Scans & transparencies

You can scan an image or document to a digital format in the Digital Media Center on the second floor of the library. The DMC can scan artwork, prints, photos, or slides. If you’re on lower campus, you can also make scans in the Wiegand Multimedia Lab in Morken Center.

You can make transparencies as well as color copies at the Multimedia Services desk on the first floor of the library.

Using the Braille printer

Printing in Braille is available in the Assistive Technology area behind the ResNet helpdesk. You need a login from the Counseling and Testing department to have access to the machine.
