Contingent Faculty - Principles and Best Practices - Seeking Your Feedback
From: Steven P. Starkovich, Provost

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

On March 8, 2013, the faculty in the Division of Humanities adopted a "Statement of Principles and Best Practices Relating to Contingent Faculty." This document is the culmination of extensive work that began last fall, and I seek your input before deciding whether to move this document forward for wider application or deliberation.

The Statement addresses (a) rights, status and process; (b) remuneration; and (c) best practices for departments, chairs, and deans.

The survey (link below) will ask you the following questions.

1) Do you see value in extending this Statement university wide? [Some of the provisions are administrative in nature, while others may require Assembly action];

2) Are there sections where this Statement should be amended, including additions and deletions?

Your responses will be anonymous.

The Statement may be found by clicking here.

Please respond by Monday, April 15 to the survey at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TQMR6PS

Thank you for taking the time to consider this important issue.

Sincerely,

Steve
