About Campus Life

Campus Life - Live Learn Lead

The vision of Campus Life is to create opportunities and environments that:

  • inspire and cultivate joy
  • champion equity and justice
  • enrich authentic growth
  • care for wellbeing

Campus Life fulfills our vision through our mission: Campus Life seeks to engage students in co-creating and sustaining radically inclusive communities of belonging, learning, and leadership — for students and the intersecting communities in which we are rooted.

Campus Life creates a cohesive, intentional, and holistic student experience while enhancing student learning, engagement and success at PLU. The work of Campus Life staff transcends a single functional area and provides the opportunity to engage with a variety of other functional areas, including: New Student Orientation, Student Activities, Clubs & Organizations, Leadership Programs, Residential Life, Commuter Student Programs, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Campus Life is situated within Student Life, a Division that strives for improved care, learning and service to students through increased synergies and efficiencies.

Dream Gonzales, Community Director for Ordal & Stuen Halls: “Within the role of the Community Director for Ordal Hall and the DJS Learning Communities (FIF, SOC, ESJ, and LAV), I find myself often serving as a wayfinder, supporting students through their identity development and institutional navigation. The small campus and the department encourage intentional collaborations making it easier to create a network of support for our students.”

Dan Murray, Former Community Director for South & Pflueger Halls: “Being a Community Director at PLU, specifically for Upper Division students, has given me so many opportunities that I never thought I would have had! I’ve been able to develop and implement collaborative campus wide initiatives (check out Adulting 101!), serve on numerous committees and network with other professionals all over campus, help organize and implement RA training and selection, present at regional conferences, and really grow my depth of knowledge on topics relating to all things social justice! Between my student staff and the colleagues in the Res Life office, I am constantly learning from an amazing group of people who have supported me every step of the way!”
