Equivalency. There are two ways of looking at credits earned. First is how individual courses transfer. PLU has a very liberal credit transfer policy. If a course is similar to one taught at PLU, most likely it will transfer. Use the equivalency guide to assess course credit transferability. To find out for sure which of your own credits will transfer, apply for admission to PLU or review our equivalency guides.
Direct Transfer Agreement. The second way of looking at credits earned is through the Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) that PLU has with all Washington State community colleges. If you earn a liberal arts, general studies AA degree from one of these colleges, PLU will accept your two years as a block of credits. You will be admitted to PLU as a junior without having to evaluate individual courses for equivalency. Learn more about direct transfer agreements.
The surest way to successfully transfer to PLU is to earn an AA degree at a Washington state community college. And the best way to determine your credit status – whatever your previous institution – is to apply for admission to PLU.
