Biography

My name is Sarah Patton – I have been working as a Registered Nurse for 19 years (it goes by SO fast!). In nursing school, I always knew my goal and passion was working in the PACU, however, under the guidance of my wise preceptor, I worked on a Medical/Surgical unit for the first three years of my career. I then entered a PACU residency and have worked in that setting ever since. I have been lucky enough to get excellent training in PACU Phase 1, Phase 2, Admit, and GI Special procedures. I have served as charge nurse throughout much of my career, I also spent one year as a PACU Nurse educator.

Throughout my career I have always remembered my time as a student, remembering how daunting it was! That is what drove me to teaching. While this is my first year with PLU, I have served as a clinical adjunct faculty member many times in the past. I really enjoy seeing the students learn, grow, and bloom into amazing nurses!

I obtained my Associates degree in nursing from Yakima Valley Community College, My BSN from Seattle Pacific University, and my MSN from West Texas A&M University.

In my free time I hike, watch my daughter play sports, and travel. In the past few years I have started volunteering with Operation Smile – I have gone on 2 medical missions so far; one to Brazil, another to Jordan (I am looking forward to another in 2024).

I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of the PLU nursing team!
