MFA Emphasis: Writing for science film, protocols for scientific outreach and education through web-based video and social media platforms.

BA Thesis: Thesis: “The roles of oligodendrocytes and myelin in the spinal cord regeneration of zebrafish (Danio rerio).”


The Video Producer designs, captures, and produces video programs and deploys videos to a variety of media. Activities include working with: 1) faculty to create video learning objects for curricular use, 2) University Communications to produce videos for recruitment, development, and the PLU web, and 3) others in I&TS to produce university events. Creatively operates cameras, lighting equipment, and digital editing tools to create sophisticated video programs for distribution across various media formats.

After earning her BA in Zoology from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, Katie began producing videos while studying Science and Natural History Filmmaking at Montana State University. Her thesis work at MSU focuses on the convergence of online media, education, and community involvement. As a web video and digital media specialist, Katie is passionate about utilizing social media and online platforms to communicate. She took the position of Video Producer at PLU in January, 2012, and is eager to utilize her skill set in new ways to strengthen the communications initiative at PLU.
