Healthy Parkland Coordinator
Rachel Haxtema will serve as the AmeriCorps VISTA Healthy Parkland Coordinator for 2013-2014. While Rachel will be housed in PLU's Center for Community Engagement and Service (CCES), she will work closely with PLU community partners: Trinity Lutheran Church Food Ministry and Emergency Food Network. Washington Campus Compact is another partner making this effort possible.
Rachel is a graduate Calvin College where she studied Biology, Environmental Studies and International Development. She received an M.A. from Graduate Theological Union in Social Theory and Ethics and an M.Div. in general Theology and Biblical Studies. Rachel has worked at California Interfaith Power & Light on climate change issues with faith communities and also at The Sierra Club on climate, energy and solar.
