When it comes to being loyal Lutes, not many people surpass Don and Janet Reiman. Don was not only a PLU alum, he was also very involved with University activities in the years that followed. After his passing, Janet established the Donald F. Reiman Endowed Scholarship in honor of Don’s time at PLU and his legacy as a parent and grandparent of PLU students.

“The Reiman family has a long history at PLU. Don and I met there in 1952. He graduated that Spring with a Business degree, joined the Navy and became a fighter pilot. That was followed by a long career at Boeing, ending as Director of the Corporate Ethics Office. He was a longtime Q Club member and served as president. We also worked on the Endowment Committee with newly arrived President Anderson. Two of our children are PLU grads—one now a Professor of Economics and the other serving on the Board of Regents. Two of our grandchildren are PLU grads also.

Don was a lifelong Christian, serving on several Lutheran church councils. And he had a lifelong gratitude for his PLU experience. His family and friends thought a scholarship in his name seemed an appropriate recognition of the focus of his life and a way to make that PLU experience available to younger generations.”
