Financial Aid

It's about Value

At PLU, an outstanding educational experience is only the beginning – the benefits last a lifetime. Today, more than 3,500 current students and some 40,000 alumni have found that PLU is a life-changing investment. We think you will, too.

Choosing a university is among the most important, most life-shaping investments you will ever make. Think hard. Take your time. And remember that value is more than just money spent, value is what you get for your money. And given that PLU offers academically rigorous classes, a supportive campus community unlike any other, and preparation for success in the world – you’ll find that it is time and money well spent.

1. Research your financial aid options
Students are usually eligible for several different types of aid, some of which have to be repaid; some do not. We are happy to help you research the best combination of scholarships, grants and loans available to you and your family – many of which you may never have heard of. You can be sure to take advantage of all PLU has to offer.

2. Apply for aid
Start by filling out the online FAFSA– the method the federal government uses to determine how much you and your family can afford to contribute to your education. Once you have been admitted to PLU, we will begin to put together a financial aid “package” of funds that depend on a number of factors, including your enrollment status, the funds available at the time you applied, and the amount of your financial need.

3. 2014-15 Offer of Financial Aid
Prospective PLU students will be mailed their 2014-15 offer of financial aid, beginning February 14, 2014. Entering students will be sent an award letter, outlining the aid programs and dollar amounts being offered, along with instructions for finalizing the offer, links to information about the award, and how to accept the award on-line.

A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is needed to access your award. Entering students will be issued their PIN on their Letter of Acceptance from the Office of Admission. Continuing PLU student financial aid awards are expected to be made available April 18, 2014 (for those students whose FAFSA is received by the March 15 priority filing deadline). When an award package has been completed and ready for viewing, we will send an email, directing you to Banner Web, where you can access and accept your financial aid award 24/7. There will be no paper award packet mailed.
