Thank you for supporting Lute Men's Basketball!
Q&A with Coach Chad Murray
What are some highlights of this year that shows your team succeeding, facing a challenge, and supporting each other?
After coming off what was a very emotional and tough loss to Linfield, our team responded by winning 8 straight conference games including an overtime win vs. George Fox, a 2 point win vs. Pacific on a buzzer beater from Seth Hall, and a 16 pt home win vs. Whitworth where we held them to their lowest point total (48) and lowest shooting percentage (33%) of the season.
What makes your student-athletes special? What makes you feel most proud of your team?
We have a group of high character young men who are like minded and driven in terms of their overall improvement as human beings, students and as athletes. I am proud of the way the members of our program show a collective responsibility to represent the core values of not only our program but those of the entire athletic department. Being a Lute means a great deal to our team.
How did your team engage with the community this year?
Youth basketball clinic at Lakewood Boy’s and Girl’s Club and All-sports Youth Clinic.
Looking ahead, what are you most excited about for next year?
Next year we are looking to defend our regular season conference championship and improve our overall record. We are also planning on a foreign tour to Iceland and Barcelona, Spain in the spring of 2023.
