Lutes Help Stuff the Bus with Back-to-School Supplies
By PLU Marketing & Communications
TACOMA, WASH. (July 28, 2015)—Hard to believe, but it’s almost back-to-school time, and for many children, that means heading to class without the basics.
To help, Pacific Lutheran University is again partnering with Tacoma’s Communities in Schools for the Stuff the Bus campaign to provide backpacks, school supplies, clothing and shoes to more than 4,000 Tacoma children in need—a goal of 1,000 more than last year, when more than 40 local businesses and organizations helped collect school supplies to fill 3,000 backpacks.
A single notepad or a pack of pencils can make a big difference, and it couldn’t be easier to donate: Just bring your back-to-school goodies to the Jazz Under the Stars summer concert series, the Administrative Staff Council table at PLU Night at the Rainiers or to any of the big yellow box locations around campus, including:
- Mortvedt Library
- Garfield Bookstore
- The Neeb Center
- Old Main Market and Kelley Cafe
- School of Education, Business Office and Student Services (Hauge).
