TACOMA, WASH. (July 25, 2016) – Pacific Lutheran University was named one of the top colleges in the country for awarding creative arts scholarships by LendEDU. PLU ranked 22nd on the list, credited with distributing more than $1.4 million in creative arts scholarships in 2015. It was the only institution west of Texas included in the top 25, and one of only two Pacific Northwest universities included in the top 50.

Self-described as “a marketplace for student loans and student loan refinance,” LendEDU based their list on the total amount of creative arts scholarship money awarded in 2015. Using data licensed from Peterson’s, LendEDU included more than 400 colleges on their list and included the dollar total that each institution gave.

The PLU School of Arts and Communication (SOAC) is dedicated to building and enhancing our community through the study, practice and understanding of artistic expression. Housing the departments of Art & Design, Communication & Theatre, and Music — and presenting more than 250 events each season — SOAC combines the best practices of liberal arts education and exploration with the values and benefits of applied and professional study.

SOAC offers several artistic achievement awards to talented students in Art & Design, Dance, Forensics (Speech & Debate), Music and Theatre (acting and technical). SOAC artistic achievement awards are offered in amounts ranging up to $10,000 per year and are in addition to academic scholarship students may receive.
