Critical Interdisciplinary Studies

In alignment with the Pacific Lutheran University mission to educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care, the Critical Interdisciplinary Studies Department (CRIS) operates as a collaborative ecosystem of programs dedicated to social justice and systemic transformation. By practicing continuous self-reflection and challenging the traditional boundaries of academic knowledge, we seek insights from multiple disciplines to gain a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues. Our program fosters an equitable learning environment that equips students with the skills and mindset necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern world and address pressing societal challenges in creative and collaborative ways.
