Voice Mail Features

How to Access Voicemail

There are three ways to get into voicemail.  The first and easiest is when the message light is blinking on your phone.  By pressing this message key, the system automatically dials voicemail (x5000)*.  Second, you may dial “5000” from anywhere on campus, be prompted for your extension # and password, and get into voicemail.  The third and final way is by dialing from off campus, (253)536-5000.  You will be prompted for your extension # and password.

Setting Up Your Voice Mailbox

To access your voice mailbox, dial ext. 5000 (on campus), OR 536-5000 (off-campus).

When you access your mailbox for the first time, a user tutorial is automatically activated.  This tutorial will guide you through your first mailbox session.  After you hear the main greeting, press #, plus your mailbox number (extension).  The temporary passcode you will enter is 0000.

When you first access voice mail, you will be asked to do 3 things:

   1. Set your own Security Code (passcode).  Do NOT use the temporary passcode as your new passcode.
   2. Record your Name.
   3. Record your Greeting.

We encourage you to set up your voice mailbox on the new system as soon as possible.  If you receive a busy signal, which means that all available lines are in use while others are setting up their mailboxes, please try again.
