Matt Kennedy ’07
Empowerment Football 2009
Matt Kennedy’s interest in sports started with playing baseball with his father at age 8 and continued through elementary school, junior high, high school, college and now into his post graduate years. Matt has played on baseball, basketball, football and lacrosse teams and has spent time mountain biking, trekking, rock climbing and snowboarding. In college, at PLU, Matt was also encouraged to travel and study internationally. He studied in Antarctica, Argentina, Chile and South Africa. These experiences fueled a curiosity that continues today. After graduation Matt went to China to work as a guide for ChinaClimb, an adventure education company specializing in organizing and facilitating adventure based activities for middle school children. He also arranged to work for the Global Youth Partnership for Africa, located in Namuwongo. This work led to the creation of Empowerment Football 2009. Matt’s future plans include a graduate program in Sport Psychology, certification as an alpine mountain guide, and living as deeply and broadly as possible.
