You Ask, We Answer: Do you offer full-ride scholarships?

When it comes to full-ride scholarships, these are far and few between at most colleges and universities. A full-ride scholarship would mean that every expense associated with going to school would be covered – tuition, student fees, housing, food, etc. The reality is that very few students will receive a full-ride scholarship to go to school. PLU does not offer any full-ride scholarships outside of the Act Six Scholarship and potentially a 4-year Army ROTC Scholarship.

However, PLU does offer full-tuition scholarship opportunities. And it’s important to note that last year, 100% of our incoming students did not pay full cost – that’s one of the reasons PLU is ranked the #1 school in Washington and the #9 school in the U.S. for financial aid by LendEDU.

So, what are the full-tuition scholarships we offer at PLU?

253 PLU Bound Scholarship
To receive this scholarship:

  • You must be College Bound Scholarship eligible
  • Attend a Washington state high school
  • Have a 3.30 or higher weighted cumulative GPA (if your high school doesn’t weight GPAs, PLU will do so when you apply)
  • Must be entering PLU as a first-year student (this does include Running Start, who come in as first-year students with advanced standing)

The 253 PLU Bound Scholarship award includes full tuition for 4 years at PLU (covered by a combination of PLU, federal, state and College Bound scholarships and grants), a $1,000 per year Supporting Success Scholarship, and a $1,500 per year Housing Grant (if you live on campus). Additional financial aid in the form of work study and loans may be applied to room, meals, and other expenses.

Regents’ Scholarship (one of our Presidential Scholarships)
Each year, eligible students are encouraged to apply for our top academic and leadership Presidential Scholarships (by the December deadline). The first of these awards is the President’s Scholarship ($34,000 per year), and on average, we award about 120 of those. President’s Scholars are then invited to attend Scholarship Weekend near the end of February and interview for the Harstad Founder’s ($40,000 per year) and Regents’ (full tuition per year) Scholarships. Ten students are awarded the Harstad Founder’s and five awarded the Regents’.

Yellow Ribbon Scholarship
PLU is proud to partner with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to offer a number of full-tuition Yellow Ribbon Scholarships to qualified veterans or their dependents. PLU has a rich history of working closely with the military community and is excited to provide greater access to private higher education through this important program.
