Biography

Lise Ekani

Dr. Lise Ekani holds a joint appointment in the French & Francophone Studies program and Global Studies. She is known for her innovative teaching methods where she incorporates multimedia resources and immersive experiences to bring the knowledge to life in the classroom. Whether through virtual cultural exchanges or hands-on projects, she continually strives to make the learning process engaging and relevant for her students.

Dr. Ekani grew up in Cameroon in a nurturing environment that emphasized the value of knowledge. This laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education. She had the opportunity to live in various cities in Africa, Europe, and America. She studied and
taught at numerous institutions in the US such as the University of Oregon, Louisiana State University, Dartmouth College, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Dr. Ekani’s “secret de polichinelle” is to become a novelist. So, she spends most of her spare time writing, rewriting, and editing manuscripts. In addition, she likes to travel, watch stand-up comedies, meditate, and talk to her family and friends. She applauds the freedom that comes with teaching and is appreciative of the opportunity to write a new
chapter of her life at Pacific Lutheran University.
