Biography

Josh Maerzke teaches inclusive and special education courses at Pacific Lutheran University. He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), National Board Certified Teacher in Exceptional Needs (NBCT), and experienced special education teacher and administrator. Josh has held positions in elementary special education, secondary special education, and special education administration. Before joining PLU, he most recently oversaw regional programs supporting students with complex behavioral needs. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Education at PLU.

Before entering education, he served in the United States Army. 

Inclusion, belonging, and relationships guide Josh’s approach to teaching. He is committed to helping future educators become compassionate, reflective, and effective, creating classrooms where every student belongs, is valued, and supported.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games, watching movies, and traveling.
