The Department of Art & Design offers students a curriculum that promotes informed creativity, preparing students for careers in the visual arts and lives of artistic inquiry.
Our classes are small, with individualized instruction from a faculty of professionally active artists and scholars who are also gifted and dedicated teachers. Classes in Art & Design focus on developing students’ skills in a variety of media.
With this strong foundation, our graduates enter a variety of careers. Many become independent artists, while others are professionals in print and web design, art education, publishing, and other fields. Still others take post-graduate studio positions or pursue graduate school in studio art, art history, or education. Whatever their career path, students in PLU’s Department of Art & Design graduate with the skills needed to make their mark on the world.
