25 semester hours
The International Honors Program (IHON) is a sequenced, integrated alternative to the General Education (GenEd) program at PLU, with an emphasis on discussion. To satisfy regular GenEd requirements, students take courses offered by PLU departments and programs. IHON is different; the program as a whole meets some of these requirements through courses specifically designed for IHON students. IHON students are therefore exempt from having to complete the following GenEd courses: Creative Expression (4); Examining Self and Society (4); Exploring Values and Worldviews (4); Interpreting Text (4); Global Engagement (4); The Academic Study of Religion (4). In addition, FYEP 102 is satisfied by taking IHON 112.
International Honors students must complete the remaining semester hours of the General Education Program prior to graduation from the University: First-Year Experience Program: FYEP 101 (4); PLUS 100 (1); Fitness and Wellness (2); Quantitative Reasoning (4); and Engaging the Natural World (4). Students must also complete the senior Culminating Experience requirement (1-4). For a full description of IHON and for details about applying to the program, go to the International Honors Program section of this catalog.
