Biography

Dr. Schmitt is an ARNP and a proud 2024 graduate of the exceptional PLU FNP DNP program, as well as a graduate of the BSN program from PLU in 2018. She is a certified wound ostomy nurse and has a strong background in wound/ostomy care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including managing the 4th largest wound center in the PNW; she has an MBA in Health Administration and enjoys teaching continuing education courses in wound care. She has a passion for the wounded patient and has volunteered extensively within the housing-challenged population, providing wound care services. More recently, her work has been with the long-term care patients, providing chronic care management, and she is a strong advocate of guideline-directed medical therapy in the complex care patient. Dr. Schmitt enjoys being a preceptor for NP students with PLU and UW.

Personal Interests:
Gardening, mountain biking, hiking, running when she isn’t broken, and camping. She is active in her church community with a strong faith in God.  She enjoys spending time with her 5 children and 4 grandchildren and can be found outside enjoying her 13 chickens and 2 dogs.
