We are glad that you are interested in learning more about working in Campus Life at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU)! Campus Life is currently hiring for several positions that are integral to supporting student success at PLU. Campus Life is a new departmental model integrates the traditional work of Student Engagement and Residential Life to create a more cohesive, intentional, and holistic student experience while enhancing student learning, engagement and success at PLU. Campus Life is situated within Student Life, a Division that strives for improved care, learning and service to students through increased synergies and efficiencies. Associate Director (AD) for Campus Life Position

The Associate Director provides direct leadership for the student experience through the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of three (of five) Community Directors. The Associate Director provides leadership and accountability for the training, development, evaluation and recognition of a broad array of Campus Life student leaders and employees.  The Associate Director works with the Associate Dean for Campus Life, Co-Curricular Learning, & Assessment to design and implement the campus-wide collaboration necessary for an effective and impactful New Student Orientation and other co-curricular initiatives. The Associate Director plays a key role in developing and realizing the vision and mission of Campus Life as it contributes to the university mission at Pacific Lutheran University.

Associate Director of Campus Life Operations

This person leads all aspects of PLU Housing process and procedure; is responsible for the direction, design, coordination, implementation, and assessment of a student centered, equitable and inclusive housing program that meets basic needs, educates and fosters student success. The Associate Director is responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of the Campus Life Operations Manager, and provides operations accountability for Community Directors. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Campus Life.

Campus Life Operations Manager

The Campus Life Operations Manager works in partnership across the department and with the direction of the Associate Director of Campus Life Operations. The Operations Manager provides essential services and support, including: Managing residential life/housing correspondence, processing new student housing applications and assignments, coordinating early arrival/extended stay housing processes, and coordinating a limited scope of residential facilities work. The Operations Manager supervises Student Housing Assistants and a Student Housing Facilities Assistant. Reports to the Associate Director of Campus Life Operations.

Community Director (CD) Position – Anticipated position posting spring 2022

CDs collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to create and manage purposeful and dynamic learning environments in the residence halls and across campus.  They have a broad knowledge of student development theories and implement these theories into daily practice.  Finally, CDs are reflective educators who are able to communicate with diverse individuals and communities. The CD position is a 40-hour/week, non-exempt (i.e., hourly) position. The CDs currently report to the Associate Dean for Campus Life, Co-Curricular Learning, & Assessment. Starting in 2022, CDs will be reporting to the Associate and Assistant Directors for Campus Life. Learn more about the CD experience using the right-hand menu links above!
