Auditioning for PLU's BFA

Incoming students wishing to audition for admittance into one of our three Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees, should prepare the following:

BFA – Acting/Directing: a 60-90 second contemporary monologue (memorized), a head shot, and an acting resume.

BFA – Design/Technical: a 3-5 page portfolio of photos and descriptions of your design/technical/stage management work and a resume.

BFA – Musical Theatre: a 30-60 second contemporary monologue (memorized), 16-32 bars (30-60 seconds) of a Broadway showtune (please provide your own accompaniment on your phone or another player), a head shot, and an acting resume.

Students may apply for more than one BFA track but must provide separate audition materials. Interviews will be held with all auditioners.

Auditions for our BFA programs happen concurrently with our Artistic Achievement Awards (scholarships); Applications for scholarships are being accepted online now with a deadline of February 8, 2021.

Additionally, students may audition through the Washington State Thespian Unified auditions and the Oregon State Thespian Unified auditions.

We also accept video auditions sent to through May 1. After this date, students may apply during their first semester at PLU.

There are no auditions necessary for our Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre or our Theatre or Dance minors.
