Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program in Data Science and Analytics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Department of Computer Science, and NSF ACE Data Science and Analytics Program (DSA) at North Carolina A&T State University are hosting a ten-week Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program in Data Science and Analytics for science, mathematics and statistics, computer science, engineering,  technology, business, and social science majors with GPA of 3.0 or above. Running from May 22 through July 28, 2023, this 10-week REU program will engage student interns via information technology and cloud computing in investigative research that entails developing tools in data analytics. The students will employ and analyze classical methods as well as investigate and develop new methodologies and applications. The proposed projects cover some of the most challenging research questions in data science and machine learning.

Applicant qualifications:
Applicants for the Summer REU Program should meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a full-time STEM, business, or social science major  with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  2. Have an interest in pursuing a summer research project on data science and machine learning.
  3. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

A familiarity with statistics and machine learning, as well as computer programming in MATLAB, R or Python is preferred. Prior research training experience is a plus. The program offers participants a research stipend of $5,000, a housing and meal allowance of $4,000 , and up to $500 travel support for out-of-state students.
