This internship position is hiring for full time/part time work on-site with NLR’s Separations Group starting in February 2026. As a year-round internship, the ideal candidate will be available for a one-year internship commitment. This intern will provide researchers with the support necessary to safely achieve their cutting-edge research—homogenous/ heterogeneous chemical catalysts for dehydration, condensation and hydrodeoxygenation reactions. This will involve the synthesis, testing, and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts leading to production of hydrocarbons with boiling points and other properties that make them suitable as jet fuels. Candidates will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will perform hands-on tasks and experimentation in a laboratory setting including:
- Operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation
- Batch and flow reactor operation
- Benchtop wet chemistry
- Separations
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
- Undergraduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Undergraduate: Earned a bachelor’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year. -
Graduate: Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master’s degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Graduate: Earned a master’s degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year. - Graduate + PhD: Completed master’s degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.
Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Annual Salary Range: $39,600 – $63,400
