Ministry in a Secular Age: Sharing in the Experience of the Ministering God after a Pandemic

The turn into a more secular and less traditionally religious culture is no news to us in ministry in the Pacific Northwest. Yet we also know that God is very much active and moving in this time and place, and our congregations often struggle to understand where we fit in to God’s ministry in our lives and in our communities.
How can reclaiming an identity rooted in God’s own action inform, challenge, and shape the ministries and communities we steward and lead?
How has the vocation of congregational leaders shifted in this secular age, and where are we called to go from here?
Join in conversation and connection with our Keynote Speaker: Dr. Andrew Root, the Carrie Olson Baalson professor of youth and family ministry at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He writes and researches in areas of theology, ministry, culture, and younger generations. His most recent project is a three volume look at “Ministry in a Secular Age,” including “Faith Formation in a Secular Age” (2017), “The Pastor in a Secular Age” (2019), and “The Congregation in a Secular Age” (2020).
