PLU Alert: Campus Safety Information – Recent Motor Vehicle Thefts and Attempts

Campus Safety has received reports of one vehicle theft and two attempted vehicle thefts over the last week. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is notified of all three cases.

– A theft attempt was made on a 1995 Honda Civic in the Ivy Lot on 10/21/2025 at around 4:30am
– A Motorcycle was stolen from Wheeler St. S. near the Mary Baker Russell Building between 7:00am on 10/21/2025 and 4:30 pm on 10/22/2025
– A theft attempt was made on a 1997 Ford Mustang that parked on 124th St. S between 6:45pm on 10/24/2025 and 8:00am on 10/25/2025 near Olson Auditorium.

When a cluster of incidents like this occurs, the Campus Safety Office provides timely emails to keep the community updated and to provide information for you to manage your personal safety and security.

What You Can Do:
– Lock your vehicle and refrain from keeping items of any value inside vehicles, and if you must keep valuables inside your car, make sure they are hidden from view.
– Consider adding anti-theft devices such as steering wheel locks.
– Motorcycles: consider wheel or disc brake locks.
– Be aware of your surroundings. Park in well-lighted areas, if possible.
-If approached by strangers, move to a well-lighted area or into an occupied space.
