Students Who Are Parents

PLU is committed to supporting it’s students and assisting them attain their educational goals.  Below is a list of resources for PLU students who are parents and/or are expecting.  Students with specific questions are invited to contact Center for Diversity, Justice, and Sustainability, Commuter & Transfer Student Connections, and/or the Health Center.

Day Care

PLU cannot recommend daycare sites or facilitate child care in any way.  However, please check out the following community resources available to you:

 

Trinity Lutheran Childcare

Our program emphasizes learning social skills through teaching how to take turns, to share, to stand in line and to sit quietly in circle time. We also emphasize respecting the teacher and other children, behaving respectfully in God’s house, and especially that God loves us all the time. The Muse: A Children’s Center

The Muse: A Children’s Center offers high quality, licensed child care that emphasizes a child-centered approach to early learning. The Muse is a program of the Greentrike. At The Muse children are seen as capable, contributing, and compassionate citizens of our community who partner with teachers to discover exploration and learning opportunities within their environment. The City of Tacoma

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF)

PLU has a convenient, private Lactation Room for breastfeeding mothers. This quiet space is equipped with comfortable seating, power outlets, and access to a restroom.

The PLU Health Center provides a variety of resources including Family Planning, Pregnancy Testing, STI Testing, and Referrals to local providers.

PLU’s Advocacy Services provides resources for survivors of sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence.
