English Minors at PLU

The Department of English offers minors in Writing and Literature, and also anchors the interdisciplinary minor in Publishing and Printing Arts (PPAP).

Literature, Culture, and Power

This 20-credit minor involves:

  • ENGL 300: Living Stories (4 semester hours)
  • Literature Electives (16 semester hours)
    • Any English-designated literature course. ENGL 227 may be substituted for 4 of these hours.
Writing

This 20-credit minor involves:

  • ENGL 300: Living Stories (4 semester hours)
  • Literature course (4 semester hours)
  • Writing Electives (12 semester hours)
    • Any English-designated writing course. A second literature course may be substituted for 4 of these hours.
Publishing and Printing Arts

This 24-credit minor involves:

  • Three core courses (12 semester hours)
    • PPAP 301: The Book in Society
    • PPAP 302: Publishing Procedures
    • PPAP 321: The Art of the Book I
  • Plus three elective courses (12 hours) in two of three categories: Writing/Editing, Marketing/Management, and Design/Production
