Kelly Valentin joined the PLU Psychology Department in 2024. She is pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the City University of New York. Before this, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Paul Quinn College and an Associate of Arts from Eastern Gateway Community College.

Kelly’s research interests focus on psychiatric epidemiology, pharmacokinetics, and psychopathology. She conducted research as an interdisciplinary researcher for Seattle Anxiety Specialists, PLLC, exploring autism diagnosis in adulthood, the effectiveness of psychotherapy for depression, and navigating nonfinite grief. Recently, she has been focused on advocating for evidence-based, improved care and resources for populations with intersections of chronic disease and their mental health. Kelly’s academic scholarship in their health equity activism shows in grassroots organizations, like the Parkinson’s Foundation, Range of Motion Project, and One Free Community.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Kelly enjoys candle making, gardening, and home improvement projects. Her favorite candle scent is leather and vanilla. Additionally, Kelly takes advantage of sitting on her porch, admiring her plants, and catching up with loved ones.
