Biography

Lt. Col. Steve Hickenbottom was commissioned from ROTC in 1984, and entered active duty to attend flight school in 1985. He served one tour in Alaska on active duty before transitioning to the Washington Army National Guard in 1989. He served in aviation, information operations and state headquarters assignments until he was deployed to Afghanistan in March 2008. While serving with the 101st Airborne Division, he was injured, and later redeployed. He has been assigned to the Warrior Transition Battalion since June 2009 in order to receive the healthcare necessary to repair his injuries.
