What PLU is Doing to Prevent Hazing

In accordance with the 2024 Federal Government’s “Stop Campus Hazing Act” and Washington State Laws (RCW 28B.10.901  and  RCW 28B.10.902), PLU requires all students and employees to complete an online anti-hazing educational module annually. Campus community members receive information on how to recognize hazing, where and how to report concerns, the response process, and different preventative measures to enact in order to stop hazing before it happens.

At the beginning of each academic year, the incoming class receives Active Bystander training. Lutes are expected to intervene, when safe, to distract, delegate, or directly confront (3Ds) conduct that can be perceived as hazing. The 3Ds are well known skills our community members can use to stop conduct perceived to be policy violations.
