“Boyish Charm” student-created IG Show wins award
PLU’s “Boyish Charm” earns national recognition for turning pantry staples into laughs, lessons, and lasting connections.

What happens when two PLU students mix humor, heart, and delicious food? You get “Boyish Charm” — the student-created Instagram show that recently won the 2025 NASPA Region V Innovative Program Award for its creative blend of cooking, comedy, and campus connection.
Created by Logan Denen ’24 (MSW ’26) and Gabe Davis ’26, Boyish Charm began as a fun idea during their internships with PLU’s Wellbeing Services & Resources. Their mission: spotlight the PLU Pantry, a free resource where students can pick up groceries and basic needs items, while showing how pantry staples can turn into easy, affordable meals.
“Since our first season, we’ve been finding creative ways to connect students with resources that can make their lives easier — and now with Boyish Charm, we can do that for students who see us solely on social media,” Logan says.
Every episode mixes friendly banter, real recipes, and genuine connection (Logan swears Episode 3: Pineapple Rice Pudding has the best quotes). With their second season well underway, Boyish Charm has become a campus favorite.
