Registration

The Registrar’s Office is responsible for collection and publication of the semestrial class schedule. This process occurs twice a year; once for Summer and Fall and once for J-term and Spring. The class schedule for Summer and Fall is made available to the campus in late March. Registration for these terms begins in early to mid April. The class schedule for J-term and Spring is made available to the campus in late October. Registration for these terms begins in early to mid November.

The class schedule, once made available to the campus, is published in an online format through Banner Self-Service. It can be viewed by visiting: bss.plu.edu.  Click on the sixth option, “Class Schedule”. Faculty members who have questions about the class schedule should contact the Chair of their department.

Registration Process

For the complete Registration Process see the Academic Policies and Procedures (Undergraduate) section of the PLU Catalog.

Registration for classes spans a two-week period and is ordered by seniority (graduate, undergraduate, non-matriculated, etc.), which is determined by the number of completed, accrued credits that the student has earned at and/or officially transferred to PLU. After seniority is considered, non-seniority exceptions are taken into account. The university recognizes exceptions for the following groups: International Honors Program students (those who are currently accepted, enrolled, and working towards a degree in the IHON program), students with documented disabilities requiring early registration (as identified by the Office of Accessibility & Accommodation), Study Away students (as identified by the Wang Center), military veterans (as designated by the certifying official), and international students studying away at PLU (as designated by the International Student Service Center). Students in these groups are given priority status based on the privileges granted to their respective group.

The two week period before registration is called Advising Weeks. At this time, all students are instructed to meet with their academic advisor to determine their classes for the next term and receive a registration access code. This is required to register through Banner Self-Service.  For step by step registration instructions click here.
