FAQs
Why was I selected for this Automatic Admission Partnership?
The counselors at your high school worked with the PLU Office of Admission to identify seniors who met our academic standards for admission (we looked at GPA, course selection, and grade trend), and who would also be great members of the PLU community. We know that you didn’t sign up for this, but we hope this offer of admission encourages you to consider PLU – and college in general – for your future.
Do I also need to fill out the PLU Admission Application/Common Application?
No! You only need to complete the Acceptance Form on this page.
If I fill out the “Acceptance Form”, have I committed to attend PLU in the fall?
No! Filling out the form just means you want to learn more about PLU. It will allow us to send you more information to see if PLU is the right school for you – academically, socially and financially.
Once we receive the form we will provide you with important next steps, help with submitting financial aid and scholarship forms like the FAFSA or WASFA, and provide you with a PLU student ID number.
How soon will I find out about financial aid and my exact academic scholarship amount?
Once we know that you are accepting our offer of admission by filling out the form at the top of this page we will determine your exact academic scholarship amount. You may be eligible for more than the $23,000 per year.
For students with a 3.8 or higher weighted GPA, we encourage you to apply for our $34,000 – full-tuition per year Presidential Scholarships by the December 1, 2023 deadline.
Interested in art & design, dance, music, or theatre? Consider applying and auditioning for our Artistic Achievement Scholarships, which range from $1,000-$7,500 per year (and are stacked on academic scholarships).
Add PLU to your list of schools on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid). PLU’s FAFSA code is:003785. PLU uses information from the FAFSA or WASFA to determine what need-based scholarships and grants, as well as loans and work study we can offer you. (The WASFA is for Washington residents who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA, i.e. undocumented students)
We will begin sending full financial aid offers in mid-February.
I am a Running Start student. Will you accept all of my credits?
Yes, generally we will! You’ll find details on our Running Start Students webpage.
I have taken Cambridge/AP/IB classes. Will I receive college credits for that coursework?
It generally depends on the scores from your exams or the type of program you completed. You can find details on our College-level Credit Policies webpage.
Do I have to live on-campus?
PLU has an on-campus living/residency requirement for first-year students. First-year students must live in on-campus housing unless they live at home with parent(s) in Pierce County or other approved zip codes.
There are certain advantages to living on-campus, including some of our themed learning communities based on interests or identities. You can learn more about living on-campus on the Residential Life webpage and on the Learning Communities webpage.
There’s also a strong community of and resources for students who live off-campus (commuters)! Check out our Commuter Students webpage.
I wasn't selected for the Automatic Admission Partnership, but go to school in a partner district. Does that mean I shouldn't apply to PLU at all?
If you are interested in PLU, we do want you to apply! Not being selected for automatic admission just means we would like to get a bit more information about you, which our application process will allow us to collect. Apply to PLU through the Common Application (it’s FREE!).
