Driving Directions to Campus

The residence halls officially open for new students at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019. Continuing students are welcome to return beginning at 11:00 a.m. on that same day. New students are encouraged to plan their arrival to allow for participation in New Student Orientation (NSO), with optional activities beginning at 10:00 a.m., and the first official session at 1:00 p.m. Below are suggested driving directions to assist those of you who are arriving on Friday, September 6th. Please note that these driving directions vary by hall and are designed to keep traffic flowing and make move in day as smooth as possible.

Move In, Unloading and Parking Directions from Interstate 5

Harstad Hall

  • Take exit 127 off Interstate 5 and head east on Highway 512.
  • Continue on 512 for approximately two miles.
  • Take the WA-7/Pacific Ave exit.
  • Turn right on Pacific Avenue S
  • Turn right on 121st Street S.
  • Turn left on Park Avenue.
  • Harstad Hall is the second building on your right.
  • Campus Safety Officers will be on site to welcome you and provide direction.
  • You have two options for unloading:

1. Park along the curb on your right. This is for unloading only. A licensed driver must be with the vehicle at all times. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking in either the University Center Lot or the Library Lot.
2. Park in the Harstad Lot. The entrance is from 123rd Street S near the corner with Park Avenue. This is for unloading only. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking in either the University Center Lot or the Library Lot.

Tingelstad Hall

  • Take exit 127 off Interstate 5 and head east on Highway 512.
  • Continue on 512 for approximately two miles.
  • Take the WA-7/Pacific Ave exit.
  • Turn right on Pacific Avenue S.
  • Turn right on 125th Street S.
  • Continue on 125th Street past Park Avenue.
  • Campus Safety Officers will be on site to welcome you and provide direction.
  • You have three options for unloading:

1. The EVA (Emergency Vehicle Access) gate to the east of Tingelstad will be opened for limited angle parking. This is for unloading only. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking. You will exit the campus on 125th Street.
2. Turn right onto Yakima Avenue S and park along the curb on your right. This is for unloading only. A licensed driver must be with the vehicle at all times. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term Tingelstad Fenced Lot.
3. Park in the designated unloading spots in the Columbia Center Lot where 125th Street meets Yakima Avenue. This is for unloading only. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking in the Tingelstad Fenced Lot.

Hinderlie, Hong, Kreidler, Ordal and Stuen Halls

  • Take exit 127 off Interstate 5 and head east on Highway 512.
  • Continue on 512 for approximately two miles.
  • Take the WA-7/Pacific Avenue exit.
  • Turn right on Pacific Avenue S.
  • Turn right on 120th Street S.
  • Turn left on 8th Avenue Court S.
  • Turn left on 121st Street S.
  • Turn right into the first parking lot on your right, the West Hauge Lot. (In order to maintain traffic flow, it is important that you approach this lot from the west allowing for a right turn into it.)
  • Campus Safety Officers will be on site to welcome you and provide direction.
  • You will be directed along a loop internal to campus based on your assigned residence hall for limited angle parking.
  • Unloading spaces near these residence halls are limited and designed to minimize the impact on grounds and plantings. Please park only as directed.
  • This space is for unloading only. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking. You will exit the campus at the corner of Wheeler Street S and 8th Avenue Court S and may park in either the Wheeler Lot or the Yakima Lot.

Pflueger Hall

  • Take exit 127 off Interstate 5 and head east on Highway 512.
  • Take the first exit (Steele Street).
  • Turn left onto Steele Street.
  • Travel south on Steele which will curve to the left into 116th Street S and then curve to the right into Spanaway Loop Road.
  • Turn left onto Tule Lake Road.
  • Turn left on Yakima Avenue South.
  • Yakima will end at the campus and flow left into 124th Street S.
  • Campus Safety Officers will be on site to welcome you and provide direction.
  • You have two options for unloading:

1. Park along the curb on your right. This is for unloading only. A licensed driver must be with the vehicle at all times. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking in either the Olson Lot or the Morken Lot.
2. Pull onto campus to the west of Pflueger – in between the building and the tennis courts. You will be directed to parking on the outdoor basketball courts. This is for unloading only. Once the vehicle is unloaded it should be moved to long term parking in either the Olson Lot or the Morken Lot.

South Hall

  • Take exit 127 off Interstate 5 and head east on Highway 512.
  • Continue on 512 for approximately two miles.
  • Take the WA-7/Pacific Ave exit.
  • Turn right on Pacific Avenue S.
  • Turn right on 125th Street S. From here you have two options:
      1. Continue on Park Avenue and turn left. The entrance to the South Hall parking lot is at Park Avenue and 126th St. S. Pull into the parking lot for unloading:
        • This is a reserved lot; however, the gate will remain open for move in unloading between August 31st and September 3rd.
        • You must check in at the Front Desk prior to unloading.
        • Once unloaded, please move your vehicle out of the South Hall Lot unless you have your South Hall decal indicating a reserved space.
      2. Continue on 125th Street to Yakima Avenue and turn left. The main entrance to South Hall is on your left.
        • If street parking is available, you may use it to unload.
        • You must check in at the South Hall Front Desk prior to unloading.
