Biography

Lauren McDowell is from McLean, VA. She has been practicing nursing for over 10 years. Initially receiving her BSN from the University of Kentucky, Lauren began her career by being commissioned into the Air Force where she served as an active-duty nurse for 4 years prior to transitioning into the Air Force Reserves, where she currently serves. She received her MSN in clinical systems leadership for nursing from the University of Arizona. Furthering her education and expertise, she earned FNP and DNP degrees from Vanderbilt University. She has experience working in both military and civilian units of nursing in the preoperative clinic, ambulatory surgical unit, post-anesthesia care unit, labor and delivery, postpartum, student health, and primary care. Lauren’s nursing interests include patient safety, continuing education, research, leadership, and nurse wellness initiatives. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with family, exploring outside, and trying the best local coffee shops.
