Freda Edwards-Rock, Therapist in Training
As a Marriage and Family Therapist in training, I approach therapy as a collaborative and respectful process that honors each client’s individuality and lived experience. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where trust can grow, and clients feel empowered to express themselves openly. My style is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and cultural humility, and I believe that meaningful healing happens within supportive, attuned relationships.
Originally from Texas, I moved to Washington after my spouse was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord through the U.S. Air Force. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Martin’s University and am currently pursuing advanced clinical training at Pacific Lutheran University towards my M.A in Marriage and Family Therapy. My therapeutic approach is holistic, person-centered, trauma-informed, and rooted in systemic thinking, with attention to the ways in which our identities and social contexts shape our experiences.
I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families from all backgrounds, and I hold a special commitment to serving members of the BIPOC community and others with historically marginalized identities. I am particularly interested in supporting clients as they explore intergenerational patterns and work toward breaking cycles of trauma.
Outside of the therapy room, I recharge by spending time in nature. Whether I’m gardening, wandering along a quiet trail, or sitting by the ocean with a good book and some smooth instrumental jazz, these moments root me in peace and presence.
I would be honored to work with you as we move toward meaningful change, deeper self-understanding, and stronger connections.
